Writing Program Administration
I'm what's known in my field as "GenAdmin." I prepared to be a writing program administrator (WPA) in my PhD program and my scholarship and interests are closely tied to WPA work. It is central to my identity in the field. I believe good administration is grounded in strong research but also compassion. Activism is key to WPA labor.
When I began at Ball State, I directed the Writing Center for a few years. I was the Director of the Writing Program in Spring 2018-Spring 2023. Although I am currently taking a break from administration, the majority of my publications fall under this umbrella, including work on graduate teaching assistants and assessment.
I have a blog titled WPA Life where I share reflections on the role. I was also interviewed for the podcast Pedagogue. Check out Episode 18 for more on my views about teacher response, assessment, and teacher prep.
